Burgundy 2021 Supplement

DOMAINE TESSIER - MEURSAULT Domaine Tessier began bottling their wines in 2005 when Arnaud’s father, Michel, died suddenly, and Arnaud and Catherine took the helm. Their 7.5 hectares previously went to négoce , such as Maison Verget, and Arnaud’s grandfather regularly sold plots to Coche Dury. They now bottle more than half of their 7.5 hectares as contracts on the grapes have expired. Arnaud is usually among the vines and Catherine in the cellar. Their wines show keen minerality and acidity, yet they also provide sumptuous ripe fruit around this firmcore that exudes concentration. In their youth, they aremore approachable than otherMeursault, and we love that they will offer more immediate pleasure. The cellars under their house are classic, and this smallish Domaine produces dynamic and glorious wines – and in increasing volume, as the contracts expire. Their little daughter Louise is ever-present at our tastings, this year climbing over barrels in the cellar and insisting on smelling each sample as it came out of the barrel, quality control at its finest! We’re delighted to see the return of Domaine Tessier to the FFWportfolio!

BOURGOGNECHARDONNAY A mix of all of their lieux-dits other than Champerrier, which is bottled alone. A big intense nose with chalky minerality and flintiness thanks to its proximity to Puligny. Zesty with ripe orchard fruit and good weight. The palate is distinctly mineral with a slightly smoky element on the clean and fresh finish. 2023+ £110 - £125 / 6BOTTLES BOURGOGNECHARDONNAY, LESCHAMPERRIER A verymineral style, mediumweight. Quite pretty, not too dense or racy. Very drinkable and fresh with an elegant fruit forward and intensemineral finish. 2024+ £110 - £125 / 6BOTTLES MEURSAULT A very racy, zesty nose of citrus zest. Mineral chalky and gun flint nose. Weighty and juicy with a fine wet stone finish. Very good. 2025+ £215 - £250 / 6BOTTLES MEURSAULT, LESCASSE-TÊTES Very stony nose, cool and classic. The palate is also rich in minerality all the way to the long finish. These is a bit of texture here, a slight leesy note on the fresh mineral

MEURSAULT, 1ERCRULE PORUZOTDESSUS Lovely flinty sherbet note on nose almost floral. Palate is clean and fresh with lots of apple and pear with citrus undertones. The finish is fresh and bright with a cool mineral note. 2026+ £360 - £420 / 6BOTTLES MEURSAULT, 1ERCRULESCHARMESDESSOUS Green apple and steel on nose, another intensely mineral cuvée.
